Getting Lost in Clay
Pottery is a celebration of human ingenuity through history where ceramic vessels have been created to nourish body and soul, honour rituals, and celebrate life’s accomplishments.
I strive to create functional pieces that are useful, modern, and unique, in colours that are lively and invigorating. I enjoy pottery that is balanced, functional, comfortable for the user, and beautiful to behold.
Over the past many years, each interaction with clay has brought new meaning and understanding of the complexities of the medium and the patience, knowledge, and skill required to achieve good results.
As a ceramic artist and small batch potter, all of my work is wheel thrown from start to finish using stoneware clay. Each piece represents a work in progress that reveals an evolving approach to form and function.
"My pieces are meant to be used and loved."
How It All Started
Throughout my professional life I have had many roles that include nurse, educator, and administrator. Education and a desire for lifelong learning has provided many opportunities over the years. My professional work life was one that I carefully crafted and pursued with passion. Now, my passion turns to artistic endeavors, the pursuit of my craft, and clay specifically.

'I have ordered a number of pieces from Mary Potter Ceramics. The pieces are beautiful. The special order in this picture are the loveliest pottery pieces I have seen anywhere. I also have some spoon rests created with an embedded lace pattern from a piece of my grandmother’s linen. It is obvious that thought and care go into every piece.'
